The Silverado 1500––which was just refreshed for 2022––also sees some improvements. What’s New for the 2024 Chevy Colorado?

General Motors gives the 2024 Chevy Colorado a few updates even though the Colorado was just redesigned from the ground up for the 2023 model year. The big update for 2024 comes in the form of an all-new ZR2 Bison, the Colorado’s dedicated off-road-oriented model. The previous generation of the ZR2 Bison was undeniably potent as an off-roader, but Chevy saw the need to make some changes.

Made in conjunction with American Expedition Vehicles, you will see a lot of AEV features on the new Bison. The rear bumpers, winch-ready front bumper, and fender flares are all designed by AEV. What’s more, the vehicle’s 17-inch beadlock-capable wheels are made by AEV and come with 35-inch tires built to handle mud and other tricky terrain. This vehicle now has a best-in-class 12.2 inches of ground clearance, plus there are Multimatic DSSV dampers, rocker protectors, and skid plates made from boron steel. All things considered, this makes for quite the upgrade.

The Colorado ZR2’s new 2.7L Turbo High-Output engine is also found in the Bison, and it delivers 310 hp and 430 lb-ft of torque to the four-wheel drive powertrain. Front and rear locking differentials provide unmatched traction in any terrain. A spray-on bedliner and spare tire carrier inspired by racing designs round out the list of exterior features. Inside the cabin, you’ll see a lot of AEV badging, including unique charging bison logos embroidered on the headrests.

What’s New for the 2024 Chevy Silverado 1500?

The Silverado 1500 sees some alterations for the 2024 model year. Despite its 2022 refresh, Chevy decided to give the Silverado 1500 a few updates. First and foremost––and to eliminate some confusion––the 2.7L Turbo High-Output engine has been rebranded the TurboMax. In another powertrain reshuffling, the Silverado 1500 ZR2 is now offered with the 3.0L Duramax inline-six turbo-diesel, serving up 305 hp and 495 lb-ft of torque. The previously standard 6.2L V8 is also still available and now comes with a dual-mode sport exhaust.

The base-model 2024 Silverado WT (an acronym for Work Truck) trim has seen the addition of a few handy tech features. This includes wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto for the seven-inch infotainment center and OnStar capability. Also, a rear seat belt indicator is now standard, and the available WT Safety Package has been enhanced with the addition of Front and Rear Park Assist.

The luxurious High Country trim now comes with Adaptive Cruise Control as a standard advanced driver aid and can be outfitted with the Midnight Edition appearance package. A Blackout Appearance package, which is somewhat akin to the Midnight Edition, can be added to the Custom, Custom Trail Boss, RST, LT Trail Boss, and ZR2 trim levels.

What’s New for the 2024 Chevy Silverado HD?

The Silverado 2500 HD and Silverado 3500 HD are smack-dab in the middle of their current generation, which means the 2024 lineup gets a major refresh. Is it “much-needed?” Not necessarily. It is, however, much appreciated. First of all, there are plenty of changes to the exterior of the HD models. New dual-projector LED headlights include an animated lighting sequence whenever you enter or exit your vehicle. There are all-new wheel designs as well, and the High Country can be custom-ordered with the Midnight Edition.

Inside, you will find more changes. There are more physical buttons on the revamped center stack. Higher trim levels now have a 13.4-inch central touchscreen and a 12.3-inch gauge-cluster screen. Second-row climate controls are now fitted into the rear seat area on the LT, LTZ, and High Country trim levels. A wireless phone charger can be placed onto the center console, and Adaptive Cruise Control is now compatible with towing. Enhanced Transparent Trailer tech works with fifth wheel and gooseneck trailers, and Trailer Side Blind Zone Alert helps you stay aware of your surroundings.

The old six-speed automatic that was previously paired with the base 6.6L gasoline engine is gone, and both engines are now matched with an Allison 10-speed automatic transmission. The 6.6L Duramax turbo-diesel engine has been updated to produce 470 hp and 975 lb-ft of torque––an increase of 25 hp and 65 lb-ft of torque. Want to tow with the Duramax? It can now pull up to 22,500 lbs in the 2024 Silverado 2500 HD, a two-ton increase over last year.

The 2024 Silverado 2500 HD is also the first model year to offer off-road ZR2 and ZR2 Bison variants. These variants come with special front control arms and steering knuckles, DSSV dampers, a 1.5-inch lift, 35-inch all-terrain tires, and durable skid plates. The ZR2 Bison ups the ante with stamped steel skid plates, bumpers with integrated winch provisions, and unique interior decor.

What’s up With the New 2024 Chevy Silverado EV?

Folks, it is finally here––the 2024 Chevy Silverado EV, that is! The Silverado EV brings stiff competition to its rivals. The RST First Edition comes with an adaptive air suspension, a Multi-Flex Midgate, a massive 17-inch infotainment touchscreen display, a 14-inch head-up display, and an 11-inch digital instrument cluster. Trailering-capable Super Cruise rounds off the list of futuristic features. The interior is, according to Chevrolet, a lot more like a Camaro than the regular gas-powered Silverado. It has a modular center stack and panoramic sunroof as options.

Dual-motor AWD helps the Silverado EV produce up to 754 hp and 785 lb-ft of torque. Is that more power than you need? Chevy plans on releasing single-motor, two-wheel-drive Silverado EV models at some point in the near future. The WT trim gets an estimated 450 miles of range, and the truck is compatible with 350 kW DC fast chargers. In 10 minutes of charging, you can regain about 100 miles of range for the Silverado EV.
