  • Overview

A red 2024 Chevy Blazer EV is shown angled left.

The 2024 Chevy Blazer EV introduces another chapter in the Blazer’s history in the Chevrolet lineup and its evolution from a trail-ready adventurer into a sleek crossover with sophisticated on-road manners. The first Blazer debuted in the late 1960s as Chevrolet’s answer to the Ford Bronco. Larger and more accommodating for families, the Blazer carved its niche in the segment, offering an outstanding open-air driving experience and the capability to answer the call of the wild with the entire family.

After decades in production and the growing demand for more efficient SUVs, Chevrolet discontinued the Blazer in the new millennium, only to reintroduce it in 2019 as a vastly different model. The latest iteration of the Blazer introduced us to a Camaro-inspired SUV, a trend that continues with the 2024 Blazer EV that swaps its internal combustion engine for an electric platform that promises more power, capability, and jaw-dropping performance. Will the 2024 Blazer EV deliver?

With a launch from 0 to 60 mph in less than four seconds, it’s safe to say the 2024 Blazer EV fulfills its promise and will exceed your expectations. Moreover, it’s one of the most sophisticated and luxurious SUVs in its class, defying convention with its affordable starting price of $44,995.[a] This gets you behind the wheel of the Blazer EV 1LT, which sits on 19-inch wheels and sets the standard for the rest of the fleet with its expansive suite of technologies like the Chevy Safety Assist suite, a 17.7-inch touchscreen display, and an 11-inch Driver Information Center. With these features standard, you can imagine what top-tier trims like the RS and SS offer. Fortunately, you don’t have to imagine with this in-depth look at the first all-electric Blazer.

  • Performance

A red 2024 Chevy Blazer EV SS is shown parked in a driveway.

The 2024 Blazer EV is built on the revolutionary Ultium platform that offers numerous benefits, allowing Chevrolet to offer the SUV in various drivetrains and ranges. The modular platform makes customization easy but also gives the Blazer EV a lower center of gravity and a solid, sturdy frame. How so? The Ultium platform positions the Blazer EV’s battery pack lower in the SUV, which enhances its stability whether you opt for the Blazer EV as a front, rear, or all-wheel drive model.

    The 1LT and 2LT Trims

With greater stability, the Blazer EV offers a more engaging and responsive driving dynamic across its four-trim lineup. The front-wheel drive 1LT, which sits on 19-inch wheels, has a 247-mile range and an 11.5-kW onboard AC charging module that makes recharging at home and on the road nearly effortless. The 2LT extends the Blazer EV’s range to 293 miles and is available as an all-wheel drive model for all-season capability.

    The RS and SS Trims

The Blazer EV RS offers the longest range of 320 miles and three drivetrain choices–front-wheel, rear-wheel, or all-wheel drive. In addition to these features and the standard 11.5-kW onboard AC charging module, the Blazer EV RS minimizes downtime with its high-speed DC fast-charging capability of up to 190 kW, which can add up to 78 miles to the battery in as little as 10 minutes. This same feature is also standard on the performance-oriented SS, which sees a decrease in range to 290 miles but makes up for it with its exceptional handling and all-wheel drive agility. That handling is enjoyable when pushing the SS to its limits and relying on max power from the Wide Open Watts mode for a thrilling launch from 0 to 60 mph in under four seconds.

    Additional Performance Enhancements

Besides the Blazer EV’s expansive ranges, Chevrolet gives you plenty of tools to enhance the SUV’s performance and extend its range. For example, One-Pedal Driving and Regen Braking are standard across the lineup and can be used independently or together. While One-Pedal Driving combines the function of the accelerator and brake pedals to increase or decrease the Blazer EV’s speed, Regen Braking converts the energy from the SUV’s forward momentum into electricity to extend its driving range, so you get the most out of the battery with every drive.

  • Technology

As the first all-electric Blazer, it’s no surprise the 2024 Blazer EV is the most technologically advanced in the SUV’s history. The Blazer EV’s tech-savvy features stretch the entire spectrum of safety and driver assistance to recharging and connectivity tools. As a result, owning and driving the Blazer EV is a genuinely enjoyable and rewarding experience.

Multiple Screens in the Front Cabin

The 2024 Blazer EV’s modern cockpit steals the spotlight, and rightly so, with its 17.7-inch customizable touchscreen infotainment system and 11-inch Driver Information Center. The dual displays put all the information you need within view or reach, like the Driver Information Center providing vital performance insights like speed, range, trip logs, and navigational cues. Moreover, it complements the 17.7-inch touchscreen display, which is a hub of connectivity features and offers wireless smartphone integration with Apple CarPlay or Android Auto.

    Connectivity

Beyond keeping you connected to your smartphone, Chevrolet also keeps you connected to the Blazer EV so that you always know how far you can go. For example, the myChevrolet mobile app is accessible on your smartphone or via the infotainment system, gives you access to the Blazer EV’s driving range, and helps you plan the most efficient routes with charging stations along the way. In addition, with the Blazer EV’s Utilifi technology, you never have to worry that the navigation system is working with the latest data because the system allows for over-the-air software updates that ensure the Blazer EV is operating with the latest available technology.

    Chevy Safety Assist

These updates are integral to your user experience just as much as the Blazer EV’s expansive suite of safety and driver-assist technologies. The Chevy Safety Assist suite is standard across the lineup and equips the Blazer EV with Automatic Emergency Braking, IntelliBeam automatic high beams, a Following Distance Indicator, Forward Collision Alert, Front Pedestrian Braking, and Lane Keep Assist with Lane Departure Warning. There are also advanced features like Reverse Automatic Braking, Advanced Park Assist, and Super Cruise, which lets you take your hands off the wheel and enjoy the ride on compatible roads throughout North America.

  • Design

A red 2024 Chevy Blazer EV SS is shown from the rear driving on a city street.

The 2024 Blazer EV shares many design details and similarities with the Camaro, from its sleek silhouette and bold body lines to its penchant for speed. However, Chevrolet outfits the Blazer EV with a luxurious interior and sophisticated amenities that guarantee your comfort wherever you go. It’s all part of GM’s revolutionary Ultium platform and the Blazer EV’s goal to usher drivers into an all-electric future.

    The Ultium Platform

The modular Ultium platform is a blank canvas that gives the Blazer EV its lower center of gravity by uniquely putting the battery pack in a more centralized position. Additionally, the platform provides the Blazer EV with a flat floor. Why is this important? The flat floor expands the size of the cabin, making it more comfortable and accommodating for you, passengers, and cargo.

    High-End Trim Interior Features

Chevrolet gives top-tier trims like the Blazer EV RS and Blazer EV SS special treatment that adds to their appeal, along with their incredible responsiveness and sport-like handling. For example, getting behind the wheel of the RS or SS ensures a luxurious ride wherever you go, thanks to exclusive seating finishes and exquisite details. Chevrolet outfits the SS with suede microfiber seating and adds blue and red contrast stitching to the Ecotex seating in the RS. You can even opt for the Adrenaline Red seats with Argon Orange accents for a bolder and sportier aesthetic.

    Other Notable Features

The trims also feature many comfort-oriented amenities and details most automakers don’t consider or readily offer without charging a premium. These details include standard ambient lighting that you can personalize to create a unique ambiance in the cabin. Comfort-oriented features like heated and ventilated front seats are also standard, with the SS adding heated rear outboard seats to ensure your passengers have the best experience possible. Additional details like the flat bottom steering wheel are integral to the Blazer EV and pay homage to the Chevrolet’s racing history. As expected, the RS and SS are equipped with a heated version that optimizes your comfort even in frigid conditions.
