This is only one of five different engines available, with one engine having two options, so you have six total choices.

In addition to all of these engine options, there are eight different trim levels available with the 2021 Chevy Silverado 1500. That means you have a tremendous amount of freedom in your selection, which lets you get a pickup that has everything you need. • Engine Options

A white 2021 Chevy Silverado 1500 is shown from the side at a loading dock next to a forklift. One of the greatest strengths of the 2021 Chevy Silverado 1500 is the freedom and flexibility it gives you in setting up the perfect truck with everything you need. You have five different engines to choose from with the Silverado, plus two versions of one of them to give you six options altogether. This makes it easy to get exactly the right amount of power in your pickup.

    Your Engine Choices

The standard engine on the Silverado is a 4.3L EcoTec3 V6, which offers up to 285 hp and up to 305 lb-ft of torque. From there, you can choose a 2.7L Turbo engine that delivers up to 310 hp and up to 348 lb-ft of torque. The Standard 4.3L engine comes paired with a 6-speed automatic transmission, while the Turbo comes with an 8-speed automatic.

There is also a 5.3L EcoTec3 V8 engine available, which provides you with up to 355 hp and up to 383 lb-ft of torque. This is the engine with two different versions available: one with Active Fuel Management (AFM) and a 6-speed automatic transmission, and the other with Dynamic Fuel Management (DFM) and an 8-speed automatic––or a 10-speed automatic on some models. Both versions provide the same amount of power, just different fuel economy ratings. The version with AFM gets an estimated 15 MPG in the city and 20 MPG on the highway, while DFM boosts that up to an estimated 17 MPG in the city and 23 MPG on the highway.

For the greatest towing capacity available, you can choose a 6.2L EcoTec3 V8 engine with DFM that delivers up to 420 hp and up to 460 lb-ft of torque for incredible performance. Finally, there is a Duramax 3.0L Turbo-Diesel engine available, providing up to 277 hp and up to 460 lb-ft of torque. This engine gives excellent towing and the best overall fuel economy possible for the 2021 Silverado: an estimated 23 MPG in the city and 33 MPG on the highway.

  • Towing and Payload

A black 2021 Chevy Silverado 1500 is shown from the side attached to a silver horse trailer. If you are looking at a pickup like the 2021 Chevy Silverado 1500, then you are probably interested in getting great towing and payload capacities. Half the fun and functionality of a truck is the ability to haul everything you need with you. These capacities depend a great deal upon the engine and configuration you choose, however, so keep that in mind when picking the options for your particular truck.

How Much Can the Silverado Tow?

Maximum towing capacity depends on a number of factors, including the cab, bed size, and engine you choose. With a regular cab, long bed, and 2WD, you can get up to 10,000 lbs of maximum towing, while 4WD lowers your maximum towing slightly to 9,800 lbs. If you choose a double cab and standard bed, then you can get up to 13,400 lbs of maximum towing capacity––though this requires 4WD and the available 6.2L V8 engine. You have a lot of options with a crew cab in terms of bed length and drive type, but you can get up to 12,000 lbs of maximum towing with a short bed, 4WD, and the 6.2L V8 engine.

How Much Can the Silverado Carry?

Similarly, the maximum payload also depends a great deal upon the configuration you choose since any weight from the cab, bed, and engine impacts how much more you can load onto the 2021 Chevy Silverado. With a regular cab, long box, and 2WD, you can get up to 2,280 lbs of maximum payload capacity with the Silverado. Choosing a double cab lowers that slightly to a maximum payload of up to 2,190 lbs. And if you go with a crew cab, then the highest payload capacity you can get is 2,180 lbs if you choose a short bed.

  • Interior Comfort and Tech

Comfort and technology options with the 2021 Chevy Silverado 1500 depend a great deal upon which trim level you choose. As you look at different trims, you will see changes in both standard and available options, so keep both in mind. With eight different trims to choose from, you have a lot of choices available, so let us take a look at just a few of them and what they offer in terms of comfort and technology. We will consider a model with a crew cab and short bed because this gives you a lot of trims to choose from.

    High-Tech Features

The standard starting trim for the Silverado is the WT or Work Truck, which features vinyl seating throughout, with 4-way manually adjustable front seats and rubberized vinyl floor covering. With the WT, you get a standard steering wheel and manual-tilt steering column, with single-zone climate control and a manual day/night rearview mirror. The WT features a 7-inch infotainment display, a 6-speaker standard sound system, and a standard gauge cluster with a 3-inch monochromatic driver information center.

If you move up to the LT trim, then you get cloth seating, with a 10-way power adjustable driver seat with power lumbar, though it still has a 4-way manual front passenger seat, plus carpeted floor covering with rubberized-vinyl floor mats. The LT includes a leather-wrapped, heated steering wheel with controls on it, and a manual-tilt and telescoping steering column, with dual-zone automatic climate control and USB ports in the front and rear. With the LT, you get an 8-inch infotainment display, the standard 6-speaker sound system, and instrumentation with a 4-inch color driver information center.

    Top-Tier Trim Features

Moving up to the High Country, the highest trim for the 2021 Chevy Silverado 1500, you get perforated leather seating, with heated and ventilated front seats and heated rear outboard seats. The High Country includes 10-way power seats for both the driver and front passenger, carpeted floor mats, and gorgeous luxury throughout the interior. You get an 8-inch infotainment display with navigation in the High Country, along with a 7-speaker Bose Premium sound system and an 8-inch digital driver information center with multiple settings that you can personalize to meet your needs. The High Country also includes more great features, like remote start, keyless open and start, an auto-dimming rearview mirror, and a wireless charging pad for compatible devices. Plus, there are a number of available options, including a power sunroof, adaptive cruise control, and a 15-inch head-up display projected onto the windshield.
