The Rolling Stones Had It Wrong: You Can Always Get What You Want (with Chevy)

While The Rolling Stones sang, “you can’t always get what you want,” we don’t believe that’s true. In a world of instant gratification with same-day shipping and buy now, pay later promises, there’s no reason to settle for anything less than exactly what you want. Can’t find the exact sweater you want in the store? No problem, simply order it online. But what happens when you use the same approach to buying a vehicle like a Chevy? A treasure trove of possibilities opens as you discover the many perks of the Chevy pre-order process and why the Chevy of your dreams is only a click away.
#1 Options Beyond the Lot
Did you know that dealerships typically stock vehicles that have the broadest appeal? You’ll find the most popular colors, features, and packages in every vehicle right here on our lot. While our extensive inventory is a source of great pride for us, we know that some customers are looking for something truly unique that we don’t have. That’s when pre-ordering a Chevrolet is a great option because it gives you more choices beyond our lot and allows you to tailor the vehicle to your specific preferences.
#2 Bring Your Vision to Life
Your family has driven Chevrolet trucks for generations, and you’re excited to continue that tradition with your next Silverado. That tradition is even sweeter when you can see your vision come to life right before your eyes. Rather than picking a truck on our lot, you can build the Silverado to your specifications and finalize the design to create a custom truck that would amaze your ancestors. The experience is rewarding and adds anticipation and excitement to buying and owning a Chevrolet.

#3 Stay in Control
Every Chevy on our lot is priced based on its trim, packages, and features. This means that there is very little wiggle room on the price. For example, you love the 2021 Tahoe Z71 on our lot, but you were hoping to find the trim equipped with Chevy’s four-corner air ride adaptive suspension to make your off-road adventures more enjoyable. Rather than settling for a Tahoe that doesn’t completely meet your needs, you can pre-order the Tahoe Z71 with the suspension and get exactly what you want. This not only puts you in control of the vehicle’s design but also gives you more control over the price since you can add the features and packages you want most.
#4 More Room to Negotiate
Most buyers believe that pre-ordering a Chevy means that there isn’t room to negotiate on price and, therefore, pre-ordering a vehicle is more expensive. This is far from the case. Every vehicle in our inventory must be insured from damage and theft. Insurance and other fees add to the cost of keeping the vehicle in our inventory, which we attempt to recover when we sell the vehicle. This limits how much we can negotiate on the final price.
Pre-ordering a Chevrolet means that you’re not buying a vehicle in our inventory. Since the vehicle isn’t sitting on our lot, we don’t have as much invested in the model (insurance, for example). In turn, we can pass those savings to you. Just be sure to negotiate the price before the order is placed.
#5 Say Goodbye to the Impulse Buy
How many times have you grabbed a package of gum or a candy bar while standing in the checkout line? This is an impulse buy that major retailers count on just as you’re trying to exit the store. Now, think about how much impulse buys cost you over the course of a month or a year. Unless you’ve got great self-control, it’s likely more than you care to admit.
Impulse buys happen at car dealerships all the time. You see a beautiful Corvette on our showroom floor, and you take it for a test drive. One minute behind the wheel, and you’ve decided to buy it even though it’s not the color you want. That’s a costly impulse buy since you’ve made the decision on a whim, and you’re not getting exactly what you want.
Pre-ordering a Chevrolet eliminates the impulse to buy whatever is on the lot. It gives you more time to financially plan because the process takes time, and it allows you to think about the features you actually want. As you sit down and go through your options, you have control over every aspect of the build, and that means you know exactly what you’re paying for and what you’re getting.

#6 Satisfaction Always Guaranteed
We want our customers to drive home confident in and happy with their purchase. This is especially true for our customers who pre-order a Chevy and anxiously wait to see their vision come to life. But what happens if you’re not happy with your pre-order? You aren’t committed to the vehicle until you sign the paperwork, which means you don’t have to purchase the Chevy if it isn’t exactly what you want. In most cases, even your deposit is refundable.
#7 The Process Is Simple
One of the most attractive aspects of pre-ordering a Chevy is the simplicity of the process. Instead of spending hours at the dealership browsing new or used models, you can build the Chevy of your dreams wherever you are. Chevrolet’s Build and Price tool is intuitive and available on every model in the fleet. Once you’ve completed the build, take a screenshot of or print the final build sheet summary. You’ll bring this to the dealership, where we’ll offer you an “out-of-the-door” or final price. This is your starting point for negotiation.
After we agree on a final price, we’ll explain your finance options, or you can opt to work with your bank or credit union. We’ll finalize the paperwork and hand you a copy of the signed buyer’s order that locks in the price. Once you pay the deposit, the vehicle is reserved with your name on it. All that’s left is to wait until your vehicle is built and delivered. We’ll keep you informed throughout the process and then roll out the red carpet when your vehicle arrives.
Get What You Want, Find What You Need
“You can’t always get what you want. But if you try sometimes, well, you might find you get what you need.” Can you hear The Rolling Stones belting out these lyrics? For you, what’s the difference between “want” and “need?” Do you want or need a new Chevy? It’s all a matter of perspective.
Today’s world of instant gratification blurs the lines between want and need, while opportunities like the Chevy pre-order process make it easier to have both what you want and what you need in a Chevy. And who doesn’t want to have their cake and eat it too? We certainly do.
The Chevy pre-order process means you no longer have to settle for the status quo or less than what you want. While our inventory is stocked with some of the most popular models, features, and packages available, there’s no harm in thinking outside the box to bring your vision to life. Pre-ordering a Chevy allows you to do exactly that with a simple, intuitive process that puts the Chevy of your dreams at your fingertips. So, go ahead, get the Chevy you want and the Chevy you need. You deserve it.
