Tips for Your Car to Be Ready for Winter

Check your tire tread.

An often overlooked area, the tread on your tires needs to be checked more often than you might think. That’s because it affects several important areas: brakes/braking, fuel efficiency, and safety. Your tire tread can be uneven and cause blowouts or alignment issues. If the treads are thinning, you car is working harder to move you forward. Check out this article for how to check your tire tread.

Replace your wiper blades.

We aren’t too likely to see much snow here in Middle TN, but winter weather leaves ice, condensation, rain, and more on our windshield, and it is important that your wiper blades can remove these quickly and effectively. Additionally, your need winterized wiper fluid that contains antifreeze to make sure it doesn’t freeze on your windshield. We have a special for wiper blades right now – 2 for $22!

Check your headlamps & tail lights.

With the sun setting earlier than usual, make sure your headlights & tail lights are all working well. Also check for fogginess or damage, so that they are fully functioning. This will also help you as you are facing any winter weather that reduces your visibility.

Test your brakes.

Again, with any inclement weather, you want to make sure you can easily see and stop. If you’ve noticed any issues with your brakes–noises like creaking or grinding, or slowness to respond–get them checked as soon as possible. Brakes are not something to wait until the last minute with; be proactive and have both the pads & rotors checked by professionals.
